Roles & Permissions

Understand the different roles in PostRite and what each can do.

Role Hierarchy

PostRite uses a role-based permission system. Higher roles inherit all permissions from lower roles.

Owner → Admin → Editor → Viewer

Available Roles

Owner

Full control over the organization. Owners can:

  • All Admin, Editor, and Viewer permissions
  • Delete the organization
  • Transfer ownership to another member
  • Manage billing and subscription
  • Remove other owners (if multiple)

Note: Every organization must have at least one owner. To leave as the last owner, transfer ownership first or delete the organization.

Admin

Manage the organization and team. Admins can:

  • All Editor and Viewer permissions
  • Invite and remove team members
  • Change member roles (except Owner)
  • Manage organization settings
  • Connect and disconnect platforms
  • Access all posts from all members

Editor

Create and manage content. Editors can:

  • All Viewer permissions
  • Create, edit, and delete posts
  • Schedule and publish posts
  • Post to all connected platforms
  • Upload and manage media
  • Create and manage templates

Editors cannot connect or disconnect platform accounts, manage team members, or access billing.

Viewer

Read-only access to organization content. Viewers can:

  • View the content calendar
  • View scheduled and published posts
  • View connected platforms (not credentials)
  • View team member list

Viewers cannot create, edit, or delete any content. This role is useful for stakeholders who need visibility but shouldn't make changes.

Changing Member Roles

  1. Go to Settings → Team
  2. Find the member you want to change
  3. Click the role dropdown next to their name
  4. Select the new role

Note: Only Admins and Owners can change roles. Admins cannot promote members to Owner.

Transferring Ownership

To transfer ownership of an organization:

  1. Go to Settings → Organization
  2. Scroll to Transfer Ownership
  3. Select the new owner from your team
  4. Confirm the transfer

After transfer, you'll be demoted to Admin. The new owner will have full control including billing access.
