Twitter / X
Connect your Twitter account to schedule tweets, threads, and manage your presence on X.
Connecting Your Account
Twitter uses the BYOAPI (Bring Your Own API) model. You need to create a Twitter Developer App and provide your own API credentials.
- Create a Twitter Developer account at developer.twitter.com
- Create a new App with read and write permissions
- Generate OAuth 1.0a credentials (API Key, API Secret, Access Token, Access Token Secret)
- Go to the Platforms page in PostRite
- Click Connect on the Twitter / X card
- Enter your 4 API credentials in the dialog
- Click Connect to save
Supported Features
- Post tweets (up to 280 characters, or 25,000 for Premium users)
- Create threads with multiple tweets
- Upload up to 4 images per tweet
- Upload videos (up to 2 minutes 20 seconds)
- Schedule tweets for future publishing
- Add alt text to images for accessibility
Character Limits
| Account Type | Character Limit |
|---|---|
| Free / Basic | 280 characters |
| X Premium | 25,000 characters |
Note: Links always count as 23 characters, regardless of their actual length.
Creating Threads
To create a thread, add multiple parts to your post. Each part will become a separate tweet in the thread. PostRite will automatically publish them in sequence as a connected thread.

Best Practices
- Keep it concise: Even with higher limits, shorter tweets tend to perform better
- Use visuals: Tweets with images get 150% more retweets
- Optimal timing: Post when your audience is most active
- Engage: Ask questions to encourage replies
- Hashtags: Use 1-2 relevant hashtags (more can reduce engagement)
Troubleshooting
Tweet fails to publish
Common causes:
- Content exceeds character limit
- Duplicate tweet (Twitter blocks identical content)
- Media file too large or wrong format
- Token expired - reconnect your account
API Rate Limits
Twitter has strict API rate limits. If you're scheduling many tweets, spread them out to avoid hitting limits. PostRite automatically manages this for you.
