File Size Limits

Media TypeMaximum Size
Images10 MB per file
GIFs10 MB per file
VideosLimited by available storage

Video uploads are dynamically limited by the remaining storage in your organization's plan. As long as you have enough storage quota available, you can upload videos of any size — each platform may enforce its own maximum (see the platform-specific limits below). For large files (over 250 MB), PostRite automatically uses multipart uploads for reliability.

Storage Quota

Each organization has a storage limit based on their plan: 5 GB (Basic),10 GB (Standard), or 20 GB (Advanced). This quota is shared across all team members in the organization. You can track your current storage usage on the Uploads page.

When you reach the limit, you'll need to delete unused files before uploading new ones. Duplicate files are automatically detected — uploading the same file twice won't use additional storage.

Media Library

Use the Media Library to upload files once and reuse them across multiple posts and templates.

Platform-Specific Requirements

Different platforms have different requirements. Here's a quick reference:

Recommended Image Sizes

PlatformAspect RatioRecommended Size

Publish and Schedule Checks

PostRite blocks publish and schedule actions when an image falls outside a platform's supported aspect ratio. You can still save the post as a draft and replace the media later. For Instagram feed posts, keep images between 4:5 and 1.91:1. For Facebook, Instagram feed, and Pinterest, the editor can also generate a platform-specific safe variant without replacing your shared media. Use Stories or Reels for taller 9:16 creative.

Platform-Safe Variants

If one image needs different framing across networks, use the media helper in the post editor to generate a platform-specific override. PostRite uploads the adjusted file only for the selected destination and keeps your shared media intact.

  • Meta Feed Safe: creates a 1080 x 1350 (4:5) image for Facebook and Instagram feed posts
  • Pinterest Safe: creates a 1000 x 1500 (2:3) image for Pinterest pins
  • Vertical Safe: creates a 1080 x 1920 (9:16) image for Instagram Stories and Reels

Media in Posts

Media files are attached directly to each post. When creating or editing a post, you can upload images and videos that will be published alongside your content.

Alt Text & Accessibility

Adding alt text (alternative text) to images improves accessibility and helps visually impaired users understand your content. PostRite supports alt text for:

  • Twitter/X
  • Instagram
  • LinkedIn
  • Facebook

Alt Text Best Practices

Describe what's in the image concisely. Avoid starting with "Image of..." - screen readers already announce it as an image.

Tips for Better Media

  • High resolution: Use the highest quality source files
  • Consistent branding: Maintain visual consistency across posts
  • Mobile-first: Most users view on mobile - test how images look on smaller screens
  • Text in images: Keep text minimal and large enough to read on mobile
  • Video thumbnails: First frames matter - start with an engaging visual
  • Compress videos: Use H.264 codec for best compatibility

Troubleshooting

Upload fails

  • Check file size is within limits
  • Verify file format is supported
  • Try a different browser if issues persist
  • Check your internet connection

Image looks different after posting

Platforms may crop or compress images. Use the recommended dimensions to ensure your content displays as intended.

Video won't process

  • Ensure video is in MP4 format with H.264 codec
  • Check duration meets platform requirements
  • Try re-encoding with a tool like HandBrake
