Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about PostRite.

Account & Setup

How do I sign up?

Go to app.postrite.app and sign in with Google or use a magic link (passwordless email). New accounts are eligible for a 7-day free trial — select a plan and enter your payment details to start. You won't be charged until the trial ends.

What happens after my free trial ends?

After 7 days, your subscription begins automatically on the plan you selected during setup. Your data is preserved and there's no interruption in service. You can change or cancel your plan at any time.

Can I change my email address?

Your email is set when you create your account and cannot be changed directly. Contact support@postrite.app if you need to update it.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This is permanent and cannot be undone. If you're the only owner of an organization, you must transfer ownership or delete the organization first. See the Profile Settings page.

Posts & Content

How many platforms can I post to at once?

You can select any number of your connected platforms when creating a post. The limit is on how many accounts you can connect (Basic: 3, Standard: 6, Advanced: 12), not how many you can post to.

Can I write different content for different platforms?

Yes! The post editor supports per-platform content customization. Use the content tabs to override the global content for specific platforms. This is useful when one platform has a character limit (like Twitter at 280 characters) but you want longer content on LinkedIn.

What file types can I upload?

Images: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP (up to 10 MB each). Videos: MP4, MOV, WebM (up to 100 MB). You can attach up to 10 media files per post. See the Media & Images guide.

Can I edit a post after publishing?

Published posts cannot be edited in PostRite. Most social media platforms don't support editing published posts via API. You can duplicate a published post to create a new version.

What does "Partially Published" mean?

This means your post was successfully published to some platforms but failed on others. Open the post to see which platforms succeeded and which failed. You can retry the failed ones.

What happens when a scheduled post fails?

If a scheduled post fails to publish, its status changes to "Failed" (or "Partially Published" if some platforms succeeded). If notifications are enabled, you'll receive an email with error details. You can fix the issue and retry.

Scheduling

What time zone are posts scheduled in?

Posts use your organization's time zone, which is set during onboarding. You can change it in Settings → Organization. All team members in the same organization share the same time zone.

Can I schedule posts for multiple different times?

Each post has one scheduled time. To post the same content at different times, duplicate the post and schedule each copy for a different time.

How do I cancel a scheduled post?

Open the scheduled post and click Unschedule. This converts it back to a draft without deleting it. You can reschedule or publish it later.

Approval Workflow

What is the approval workflow?

It's an optional feature that lets you require external sign-off before a scheduled post goes live. When enabled, the post enters "Pending Approval" status and an email is sent to the approver with a secure link to review, approve, or reject the post.

Does the approver need a PostRite account?

No. The approval link works without any account. The approver opens the link, sees a summary of the post, and clicks Approve or Reject.

What happens if the approver doesn't respond?

The post stays in "Pending Approval" and will not publish. Approval links expire after 72 hours (or before the scheduled time). You'll receive a notification and can resend the request or remove the approval requirement.

Platforms & Connections

Why do some platforms require API credentials?

Platforms like Twitter/X, Discord, Telegram, and WhatsApp require you to provide your own API credentials because they don't offer a standard OAuth flow for third-party publishing. See the Connecting Accounts page for platform-specific instructions.

What does "Reconnect Needed" mean?

OAuth tokens can expire over time. When this happens, the platform connection shows "Reconnect Needed." Go to Platforms, click on the affected account, and reconnect it.

Can I connect multiple accounts from the same platform?

Yes, as long as you haven't reached your plan's account limit. For example, you could connect both a personal and business Twitter account.

The OAuth popup isn't opening. What should I do?

This is usually caused by a popup blocker. Allow popups for postrite.app in your browser settings, or try a different browser.

Templates

What is a template?

A template is a reusable content blueprint. It saves text content, media, and tags that you can use as a starting point for new posts. See the Templates guide.

Can I share templates between organizations?

Yes! Use the import/export feature. Export a template to get a code, then import it in another organization.

Does editing a template change existing posts?

No. Once a post is created from a template, it's independent. Editing the template doesn't affect existing posts.

Team & Collaboration

How many team members can I invite?

All plans include unlimited team members. The main difference between plans is the number of social accounts and posts per month.

What can each role do?

Owner has full access including billing and organization management. Admin can manage team members, connect platforms, and handle all content. Editor can create, schedule, and publish posts, and manage templates — but cannot connect platforms or manage billing. Viewer has read-only access. See the Roles & Permissions page for the full matrix.

Can I be part of multiple organizations?

Yes. Use the organization switcher in the sidebar to switch between organizations. Each organization has its own platforms, posts, media, and settings.

Troubleshooting

My post failed to publish. What do I do?

  1. Check the error message on the post details page
  2. Verify your platform connection is still active (Platforms page)
  3. If the connection shows "Reconnect Needed," reconnect it
  4. Check that your content meets the platform's requirements (character limit, media format)
  5. Click Retry to try again

My images look different after posting

Social media platforms may crop or compress images. Use the recommended dimensions for each platform. See the Media & Images guide for platform-specific image size recommendations.

I can't see my organization's posts

Make sure you've selected the right organization in the organization switcher (top of the sidebar). Posts belong to the organization they were created in.

I can't sign in

PostRite uses passwordless authentication — there is no password to forget. Use the Magic Link option to receive a sign-in link by email, or sign in with your Google account.
